The Backyard Food and Ecology Club (BFEC) is an annual membership program for people who want to grow food, support local wildlife, live more sustainably in relationship with Nature, and don’t have the time or energy to do all the research themselves.

Members recieve:

  • A weekly newsletter that includes

    • What To Plant and Do This Week

    • Trouble Shooting (typically about the disease or pest of the moment)

    • One bigger, timely, gardening lesson on topics such as: building healthy soil, composting (what actually works for your scale), organic pest management, ecological garden design, growing herbs and medicinals (including cannabis), and water harvesting, among many others!

    • Spotlight on a member’s question and answer

    • Short teaching videos for short attention spans and busy people, step-by-step guidance

  • Six horticultural therapy-oriented projects and practices for wellbeing aimed at encouraging a deeper connection with your surroundings and place within Nature.

  • Access to a supportive community where you can get inspired, share successes, and get expert advice as issues arise (chat questions answered at least twice weekly).

Led by Phoebe, a seasoned gardener with over 20 years of experience and certifications in Horticultural Therapy and Permaculture Design, the BFEC is designed to empower beginners and intermediate gardeners alike. To see more of Phoebe’s work, check out @organicallygrowing on Instagram.

No more struggling to piece together advice from the internet and no unproven trends that don’t work! With the BFEC, you'll transform your backyard into an ecosystem that nourishes both you and local wildlife.

If you’ve ever thought, “I wish someone would just tell me what to do and when to do it,” join the BFEC community and start growing with us!

* Memberships are pay-what-you-can sliding scale. No one turned away for lack of funds, get in touch. Members also get early access to workshop tickets and 20% off.

* Membership for similar clubs is $300-700. BFEC will always have a sliding scale but this year is especially cheap as it is the first year and I’ll be perfecting it as we go. Feedback is greaty appreciated and taken to heart!

* I do not have the software yet to change dates automatically, so if you are outside of Zone 9 you will need to see how many weeks your last frost date is before or after March 15th (zone 9’s last frost date), then adjust the newletter to-do list accordingly.
